MUSICAL CHALLENGE

This week we have worked on Gerund and Inifinitives. Now, I have a challenge for you. I have found a song with many examples which illustrate different uses of the gerund and the infinitive:
"... you gonna stop breaking my heart..."
"I don't wanna be another one."
"Paying for the things I never done"
"Don't let go"
"I just don't wanna let you go"
"I hate to see you cry"
"I can fix all those lies."
"You won't see me cry"

CAN YOU FIND MORE EXAMPLES IN OTHER SONGS???

They are these:
"...To explain in due time..."
"...to lose it all..."
"...Remembering all the times you fought with me..."

These examples are from the song "In The end" Linkin park.

Hi!!
I've found some examples of gerund and infinitive in these songs:
"LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE"
> "...I can't tell you what it really is"
> "...I can't breathe but I still fight while can fight"
> "...I'm about to drown..."

"CLUB CAN'T HANDLE ME"
> "You know I know how to make em stop and stare as I zone out"
> "...gotta be the feeling that scarface player"
> "...that's right wild out got money to blow"
> "...got everybody in the club wanting to know now"
Bye :)

ana the teacher said...

Very well, but I must say that there are some examples which are not infinitives...
Don't worry!!!
I have a question for yo Silvia. Don't you see something strange in the example "I'm about to drown"? Shouldn't the preposition be followed by a gerund? What do you think?

.. said...

HI!!
Yes the preposition be followed by a gerund, I was wrong.
I think that in this example the preposition is followed to + infinitive because is a set phrase.
Can it be?

ana the teacher said...

Very good, Silvia!!! "to be about to" is a structure used to expresse near future.
