Hi :)
There are many beliefs about the origin of this day:
Some believe it is a Christianized pagan festival, as in old Rome was made adoration of the god of love, whose Greek name was Eros, whom the Romans called Cupid. This celebration was asked for the favors of God through gifts or offerings to get and find the ideal love.
In England the "party of Valentinus," where men and women chose to form a couple. Many of these couples became husband and wife and were getting the happiness of couples expected to find and consolidate the Valentine's Day.
Valentin takes to protect weddings secret lovers and hosting great prestige throughout the city and is called by the Emperor Claudius II to meet. The priest takes the visit to advertise of the Christian religion and convince the emperor to follow the steps of Jesus. Although at first Claudius II was attracted to the religion that the Romans persecuted the soldiers and the Governor of Rome forced him to give up and organize a campaign against Valentine. The Roman emperor changed his mind and ordered the governor of Rome to prosecute the priest.

Hi teacher!
In the Nordic countries is when the birds join,so it is a time of love.
Some believe it is a Christianized pagan festival, because in ancient Rome was made the worship of the god of love. His name was Cupido.
It was also traditional in England the "party of Valentinus," where men and women fall in love. Then, they got married.
St. Valentine was a Roman martyr Saint s.III1. He lived in Rome. His party was celebrated every 14th February.
On the other hand, people believed that when Christianity was persecuted, the soldiers couldn´t get marry because it fought better. But a churchman begins to
get marry to the people. Valentine protected people.
Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. Traders have turned this party on a perfect day selling flowers, cards, love poems or candys this day to show love.
