DO YOU REALLY KNOW ME???

I know that you are laden with exams, but maybe you have some free time for this activity. Just a way to forget your stress for a while.
Some of you interviewed several teachers and you got to know many things about them... but what about me??? Probably, you do not need an interview. So many hours together... I am sure you have loads of information about me, don't you? Let's try to remember. You just have to complete the gaps as in those boring grammatical exercises you have been doing since you started your English lessons.
Let's get going!!!
"My name is (1) Ana Isabel ................. and I am (2)........ years old. I was born in Granada, in a village called (3) ................... It's not very big but I really like it because almost all my family live there. And of course, I love it because it is near (3)......................... and you know that this place is one of my favourite places, especially in summer.
I only have one (4) .................... who is (5) ................. than me, but I have many cousins. Probably you remember some of them. And their names? (6)........................... They are really lovely!!! I miss them all.
As you know, I also have very good friends and some of you know my friend (7) ....................... She always asks me about you and sends you her regards. Anyway, I am sure you remember another of my friends, the one who gave me the keyboards for you. She is (8)............................
I like my job very much. I've been teaching for (9) ................ years. I have never worked in another thing because before coming to Castilla La Mancha I taught (10) ............................. in Granada. So, teacher all my life!!!. Sometimes, I think that if I weren't an English teacher, I'd be a (11) ........................ What do you think?
Now, I spent many hours working but I also have some free time and then I (12) ......................... or ...................... There are many things that I really like, such as (13)....................................... and many others which get my nerves on the edge, for example (14) ........................................ I also love travelling and I have visited some countries: (15) ................., ..................... or ..........................
Other more personal details... You all know that I'm single and ... yes! I don't like animals"
And I think that's all, but you are allowed to include all the information you know about me!!! Of course, compliments are accepted and rewarded.

DUBBING ACTORS!!!

Last year I discovered you were very good actors. But... what about dubbing? Do you dare dub this scene from "Física o Química"? The plan is easy: you prepare the script and then you show your dubbing to the rest of the class in the last five minutes of the lesson. What do you think? Maybe, it is very dificult... I don't know, but I think it could be very funny and a good way of forgetting your problems.

1,2,3,4

Feist is a Canadian singer that I really like. This is one of her most famous songs. It's really optimistic. You can watch the video; I think it is quite cool! So colourful!!! And what about the dancing? Maybe, we can try one of these days...

But this is not all; now I invite you to watch a different version of the song. Feist visited Sesame Street and she sang her song with the characters of this famous street, but... Is it the same song? Can you understand the differences in the lyrics? Which version do you prefer?

HAND IN MY POCKET

This is a new video for you to practice your English. I know that you haven't heard this song before but I hope you like it. I really love it!!!
I want you to pay attention to the lyrics because this song is an excellent opportunity to learn new adjectives. Moreover, the meaning of the song is quite interesting.
And now... you new task!!! If you listen to the song and read the lyrics, you will see that there are many opposite adjectives which appear in pairs in the song. Which one will you choose to describe yourselves??? Choose one of the pairs and give me the reasons for your selection.
I have chosen "I'm sad but I'm laughing" and remember "what it all comes down to that everything is gonna be fine fine fine"

SING A SONG.

Singing in English is a very good way of learning. You can improve your pronunciation and learn new vocabulary and structures. That is why I have included this video with the lyrics of the song "If I were a boy" by Beyoncé.
Moreover, I think that this song provides us the perfect context for my question:
What would you do if you were a boy (if you are a girl) or a girl (if you are a boy) for a day?

MORE HALLOWEEN STARS. RIDDLES AND RHYMES.

Halloween is so close now... I want to be sure you know all the typical Halloween creatures. Do you think you can solve these riddles??? But be careful because if you make a mistake, a curse will be put on you. Har har har. THIS IS HALLOWEEN!!!
WHO AM I?
1. I was wrapped in white and buried in my tomb a long time ago. Now, I wait in the dark with my golden treasures all around. Outside the sand piles high over top my tomb.
2. I am a monster that has been on a diet. There is no fat on me! Or muscle either! You might say that I am all skin and bones --without the skin. I rattle when I walk. And my teeth chatter when I talk.
3. Welcome! Have a seat. Dinner will be served shortly. Sorry we don't have any garlic bread. I can't stand it. What am I drinking you ask? Don't worry . . . it's . . um . . . grape juice. Now just relax while I look at your neck.
4. I walk through walls as I please. Sometimes you can see me and sometimes you can't. I moan and I groan. I rattle chains. You find me in old houses, graveyards, and castles.
5. Most of the time, you would never guess I was a monster because I look just like you. But once a month, I let my hair down and howl at the moon. But beware! If I bite you will become like me.
6. Dressed in black, I brew potions, I cast spells, and I put curses on people. If you bother me or my cat, you'll sit on a lily pad and eat flies.

And now some RHYMES. Do you dare??? The curse in this case will be even worse!!!
1. What a witch rides that rhymes with room:
2. Who makes a web and rhymes with wider:
3. A monster with stitches that rhymes with mine.
4. What kids say that rhymes with meat:
5. A monster that rhymes with tummy:
6. A scary thing that rhymes with toast:
7. A witch’s pet that rhymes with rat:

The rules of this activity are as follows:
1. You have to use English and just English (I'll ask teachers if you questioned them in English before giving you any star)
2. You can work on your own, in pairs or in groups (In case you work in groups or in pairs the number of stars will be divided among the members of the group)
3. The information obtained can be posted here in the blog or you can hand it to me.
4. The more information you get, the better. (Juicy information will be highly rewarded)
5. This is the basic information you have to obtain. (You have build the questions from these topics)

THE CANTERBURY TALES

This year you are going to read one the greatest works of English literarture. The Canterbury Tales were written by Geoffrey Chaucer who is often called " the Father of English poetry", the first great writer in English.

The story is set in the middle of the 14th century. A group of pilgrims are travelling from London to Canterbury. Pilgrimages were very popular at that time. The most famous pilgrimage in England itself was the journey to Canterbury. People believed that Thomas Becket, who had been murdered in Canterbury Cathedral, could help the sick and answer prayers.

On their way to Canterbury, the pilgrims decide that each traveller should tell a story; about love, war, marriage, murder, jealousy, magic...

Chaucer's original plan was to write 120 stories, but he couldn't finish this huge project.

You are going to read 6 of this stories, but before you have the book I have decided to ask you some questions so you can get some more EXTRA-STARS.

1. When and where was Chaucer born? Why is he consider "the father of English poetry"?: ALREADY ANSWERED

2. The Canterbury Tales are based on an important book of Italian literature. What is the name of this book? Who wrote it?: ALREADY ANSWERED

3. Where is Chaucer buried?: ALREADY ANSWERED

4. Which three kings were in power during Chaucer's life?

5. Name three stories in The Canterbury Tales: ALREADY ANSWERED

6. Name three characters

7. Who was Thomas Becket?: ALREADY ANSWERED

8. In which month did the pilgrims begin their journey?

9. How did Chaucer criticize religion and the Church in the tales?

10. Name other works by Chaucer: ALREADY ANSWERED

You can answer the questions you prefer.

5 stars each correct answer.

HERE WE ARE AGAIN!!!
Summer has gone and here we are again. I must be sincere. This september has been harder than others. There's no special reason at all. Maybe, it's just I'm lazier or I have the post-summer blues or ... could it be that I'm older? (I know you were thinking that!!!) Anyway, everything changed when I saw your faces... You are so cute, so adorable...!
Then, I realised that this is going to be your last year at school (at least it MUST be!) and it's going to be quite hard for you... And at that moment, the teacher you all knew came back; I had to do something special!!!
Last september, we tried with a blog but it didn't work (in fact, we totally forget about it). This time it is going to be different. I've just opened a new channel of communication.
I know you're going to have loads of work but I think it's worth trying to have a bit of fun as well.
So, my first intention is to have a kind of diary of your last year at "Guadalerzas" but I'm sure that we'll devise more stuff to include here (I've just thought about the star student ranking!!!)

Ps: I will appreciate your commentaries and although this year I'm teaching French and Spanish Language together with English, above all I AM AN ENGLISH TEACHER. So, please, WRITE YOUR COMMENS IN ENGLISH!!!
